The Boom of Social Media

Over the past year, I have been studying and learning the effects of social media on today's society. I have recently finished research on how social media impacts the global world. I'd like to share what I have written with my social media audience.

Social media is a global phenomenon that reaches almost the entire globe. Social networking is the norm in today’s society and it’s only growing more and more. Each social media site shrinks the gap between any given two individuals all over the world. Facebook is already the market leader in about 130 countries, conquering the entire west (“Countries Facebook has Left”). Social media isn’t just for personal use anymore. Businesses are using it to advertise and connect with customers. Social media isn’t something to ignore; it’s growing rapidly each day. Social media is changing the way people work, communicate, and live around the world.
More and more businesses are using social media within their companies. A study done reported that 96% of companies surveyed would be increasing their investments in social media (Arno, 2012). Businesses are using everything from Facebook to Pinterest to advertise. A study was done amongst 600 small businesses and 42% of owners say that 25% of new customers discovered them through sites such as Facebook and Foursquare (Herzog). It is crucial that businesses are online and using the most applicable sites for their costumers. Most surveys were done within the United States, but many other countries are also using social media for business. Companies are even using YouTube to create videos to advertise their products. Many businesses make videos in the hope that they will go viral, meaning reach a widespread audience in a short amount of time. One viral video shows German engineer Bruno Kammerl flying down a giant waterslide to land in a kiddie pool about a mile away. This video was actually an advertising campaign for Microsoft. There is even a local company out of Salt Lake that has made a few viral videos to advertise their clothing company, Vooray (YouTube). Large and small companies alike are using social media to grow their companies. Most of the world’s largest companies are using social media by now. “The Fortune Global 100 were mentioned a total of 10,400,132 times online in one month” (Sreenivasan, 2012). Companies like Ford, Sony, Samsung, and Wal-mart use their online presence to target costumers geographically, topically, and to engage with them. They are mainly using Facebook and Twitter because they are currently the two largest social media sites used. 79% of cooperate accounts on Twitter strive to interact and engage with their costumers (Sreenivasan, 2012). It’s more commonplace to Tweet at our even about a business and get a response in minutes or even seconds. Today’s world is moving at a faster pace. With online media, people expect responses and answers in real time. Needless to say the world of business has changed. Social media is quickly taking over the way businesses interact with their costumers worldwide.
Social media is not just taking over the workplace in marketing though. It is often used for recruitment. The social media site LinkedIn is often used to find employees. LinkedIn has over thirty-five million members in over 140 industries (“How to Change,” 2009). This is the professional side of the social networking community. This site can get you recommendations form co-workers and show you where people are getting jobs and how. It can show you if businesses are still hiring, and if so connect you to their hiring manager. LinkedIn does just that; it gets you linked into the business world. In 2011, 89% of businesses use social media as a recruitment tool. Out of those using social media for recruiting, 86% used LinkedIn, 60% used Facebook, and 50% used Twitter (“This is Why,” 2013). Employers are online looking at profiles and learning about their potential employees before they ever meet in person. In fact 1 in 3 employers reject candidates based on something they found about them online (“This is Why,” 2013). It’s critically important to know and monitor what’s going online. Social media is changing the game for companies. The Internet is the new job board, so it’s important what is posted. Profiles communicate a lot about someone in a very small space.  
The way people communicate with one another has evolved over many years. In fact it is still evolving, especially with the Internet at hand. Communication is no longer restricted by geological distance. It evolved with technology. Think of a time when you found yourself in a crowded city or bus station. Did you think that the person next to you could possibly be a friend of a friend or a friend of a friend’s friend? The small world experiment done by Stanley Milgram and many other researches tested the idea that any two people in the world are only separated by a small number of connections. Their famous study clamed that there are only 6 degrees of separation between any two people, but that was in 1960s (Bosker, 2011). If it feels like a small world, it’s because it is. The distance between two individuals is shrinking. Researches at the University of Milan in Italy developed a set of algorithms to calculate the average distance between any two people by computing a number of paths among Facebook users. This analysis was done with 721 million active Facebook users and their 69 billion friendships online. The study showed that the “6 degrees of separation” has been shirked to an average 4.74 degrees by using social networking sites. The number shrinks even more if you limit your study to individual countries. The Facebook Data Team wrote, "When considering even the most distant Facebook user in the Siberian tundra or the Peruvian rainforest, a friend of your friend probably knows a friend of their friend" (Bosker, 2011). The world’s digital divide is shrinking when it comes to communication between individuals. With access to the Internet and social media sites, communication is easier than ever. But not all countries and cultures are blessed enough to have social media sites.
Some countries are banned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and sometimes even Google. Bangladesh, Pakistan, Syria, North Korea, and China are a few countries that have had or do have these sites banned in their countries. When Iran’s ban was lifted in 2009, 150,000 Iranians were already members of Facebook. Citizens are finding ways around these bans. China has over 100,000 users on Facebook and it’s strictly banned in their country (Sawers, 2010). People find ways to get through cracks and firewalls. It’s important for countries to be involved online; they don’t want to be left out. They see what an impact social media has on the West and want to be involved. One comment to Sawers article stated, “I am one of those who "filters through the cracks"... along with so many others. I travel to China on business every few months, and compared to other countries where the ban is not persistent, in China it has been. Honestly, I don't like traveling to countries where you feel like you can get into trouble for the smallest thing (Facebook). However, I just hope they don’t find a way to find out about it through proxies” (Sawers, 2010). People are finding out ways to communicate with other countries. Social media is changing how and to who people are communicating. It’s growing so quickly, it’s hard to manage.
The Internet and social media are also changing how people learn and live. When countries have bans or censers on their media, online underground media flourishes. According to the Committee of Protected Journalist the top five most censored countries are: Eritrea, North Korea, Syria, Iran, and Equatorial Guinea (“10 most censored countries”). Without the Internet and social media, we would never find out the truth about some countries. Just last year an anti-Islam film created in the US caused deadly riots to break out around the world. The film, “Innocence of Muslims,” was posted on YouTube last June. From there it spread to an Egyptian television network. In Libya, protests led to attacks on the US consulate that left ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other American embassy staff dead (“Egypt Blocks”). This video spread to more than 20 countries and caused 50 killings. Cairo courts banned YouTube use for 30 days. YouTube and Google had not received any information from judges or government officials. Activists believe this is due to the lack of technical aspects of digital technology and lack of courtroom discussion (“The Big Story”). Technology is growing so quickly that certain courts and governments don’t know how to handle situations like these. The spread of information through the Internet happens so quick it is creating a social change. Before outlets like YouTube existed, this story probably wouldn’t have happened.
Social media has the power to impact so many aspects in people’s lives. In a recent study done it even showed the effects of social media on online shopping. People often relay on social media and mobile devices to give them information about products. The survey studied 3,5000 respondents in Asian and South American countries. The countries included: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South America, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Every country in the study stated social media was the most useful tool for gathering insight on products to buy. There was even in overwhelming reply of “yes” when asked if social media impacted their mobile shopping experience. The study showed that social media impacted Kenya and Indonesia the most when it came to mobile shopping (Honigman, 2013). Not every country has access to mobile devices though. The only big exception in this study was the Philippians who said that social media had a 39% impact and 50% said they don't even shop on a mobile device. The Philippians is still developing and growing and social media still has a presence (Honigman, 2013). The impact of social media on something so simple as shopping shows its power in today’s society.
Social media is a powerful tool that is seen by people all over the world. The Internet is not just technology, but it is a tool used to inform and communicate. One of the fastest growing news pages on Facebook comes out of a Palestinian Territory. This site currently has 481, 561 fans with about 100,000 people talking about it (“Facebook Statistics”). Social media is often times a source of news all over the world whether it is local or worldwide. Social media has even changed to world of politics by the way candidates campaign. Social media is rapidly changing the way people discover what’s happening around them. Even though social media is powerful, it also has limitations. Co-founder of Vaynermedia even said, ““I don’t think people have recognized the kind of stories that can be told through social media platforms. In a Facebook and Twitter world, things have become so one-dimensional, with people just redistributing content. I think this is no different from the way that 99% of people are treating social media: people want to talk and not listen; people don’t care as much as they say they do” (“Global Agenda”). Social media is often one-sided. It can’t always be trusted to learn about accurate news or politics. Like with any source of information, judgments should be taken.
Social media can be a place of growth, interaction, and even business. Social media is a growing phenomenon that shows no signs of slowing down. It’s a place for businesses to market and recruit. It is also a home to cultivate conversation and networking. Mark Zuckerburg, the founder of Facebook even said, “the thing that we are trying to do at Facebook is just help people connect and communicate more efficiently” (BrainyQuotes). Social media sites are doing just that, whether they help friendships develop or inform about products to buy. Social media can even be a dangerous tool if not used carefully. Social media is changing the way the world works, communicates, and lives.

New Technology

Have you ever thought that your smart phone could keep you healthy? Apps have already changed th way people think of their diets. But now it's never been easier for someone to find out if they have the flu, are pregnant, or have HIV. People normally seek a doctors tools and advice when it comes to medical help. But in the past few years, medical device manufacturers have created miniature devices for smart phones.  These senors help gather clinic information. There are some apps that monitor heart rate and blood glucose. "The Scanadu Scout, a pocket-sized Bluetooth-enabled dongle that will be available later this year, uses several kinds of sensors, including infrared, to measure blood flow, blood oxygen, electrical heart activity, temperature, and heart rate."

There are apps for just about everything, like my last blog mentioned. There is an app for Android called the essential atlas of anatomy and physiology. With these sort of apps, people can learn more about the internal workings of there own bodies without going to med -school. When you can be more aware of your own body, you can keep yourself healthier. There are now apps on the market to diagnose problems, help those with problems, and educate yourself.  

Often times patients won't go to the doctor when they need to, or they go when it's unnecessary. These apps will help people know when is the right time to seek a doctor. There are some apps that measure stress levels and one that measures pressure spikes for hypertension. Scanadu is developing apps that can analyze smartphone images of user-collected blood or urine samples and detect respiratory infections. Apps are being created and refined to let people know when they are sick. Colds will just be colds, and emergencies will be emergencies. Citizens and doctors will be able to see the difference with the change of this new technology.

There is an App for That

Apps are a huge deal today. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "there's an app for that!" Apple has coined that phrase since apps have been a huge part of their products. Here is a simple ad to show that there is truly an app for anything.

Since there is just about an app for anything in your life, they have become part of people's lives. I know I use apps everyday. I know I use Facebook and Twitter everyday. I couldn't function without my to do list apps. If there is a song I want to know, I Shazam it. I asked a few friends what they use everyday. They said they used alarms, stocks, and amazon on a daily biases. I went to Micheal's Craft store yesterday and got a discount with my app I have. Almost every big business has an application to connect with their customers better. Apps blew up the market in no time, so everyone hopped on board and adapted.

As of this month, Twitter announced it's move to access, discover, and use mobile apps. Twitter could be the tipping point for some companies. They are building a gateway to apps. The way Twitter is going about this is through what they call Twitter Cards. These are expandable areas within a tweet. This helps to add content to spice up your 140 characters of text. This will increase users time on Twitter and also can increase traffic to applications. The way this works is that Twitter will allow tweets to link to mobile apps. Twitter is referring to this as a "deep-link." This might be a huge deal for the world of apps. People like to talk about what's going on in their lives, and a huge percent of that is done on their phones. Deep-linking will help apps get discovered and used. I'm excited to see where the world of apps takes us.

Psy Discovered

As we all know, Psy has made his way to the top of the charts with his song Gangnam Style. It didn't only make it to the top of the charts though, his music video has gone viral. His offical music video is now at 1,474,518,172 views on YouTube. It is widely the most viewed video on YouTube. But what does all this mean for this Korean celebrity? As Psy grow in popularity, other videos came out the wood works. Psy had a few videos in particular that didn't make American's to happy.

During a 2002 protest concert against the presence of 37,000 American troops in Korea, PSY took  lifted a miniature "American tank" and smashed it on the ground to massive applause

After a Korean missionary was captured in Iraq by Islamists who demanded that South Korea not send troops to aid America in the war in Iraq. This resulted in massive protests throughout Korea against both Muslim extremism and the U.S. military for indirectly bringing this fate upon a Korean missionary.

As part of the protests in 2004, Psy and several other popular Korean musicians put on a live performance of a Korean rock band's song "Dear American." Lyrics went as followed: Kill those fucking Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives Kill those fucking Yankees who ordered them to torture Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers Kill them all slowly and painfully.

As soon as Psy's popularity spread to the US, these videos were found and released. Outrage grew and the web blow up through news sites, YouTube and Twitter. Psy is still not treating his new-found American fans with respect. He has been known to throw up the middle finger and reject his fans because of the Iraq War. This is still all after he apologized for his anti-American videos. Even shortly after this videos came out about Psy, he still performed for our president.

Through this viral video and Psy's popularity, we found out a lot about his past and even present. Psy might not be the person we think he is, and that's all thanks you YouTube.

I’ve been working with social media for a while now and SEO’s have always boggled my mind. SEO is just an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. As soon as I started researching it, I realized it is the process that affects the visibility of a web page or site. It makes sure your site is seen and in the top search results. SEO’s can target different kinds or search results. It can target images, videos, and local searches. They consider what people search for and the terms they use. I found a good video explaining what SEO’s were. It explained that search engines like Google are like librarians. They need to know what is in their “library.” And when your library is the entire Internet that is a lot to know. So of course they have algorithms to help. 

When you have a website, SEO’s matter! They are key to making sure your website is seen. It needs the right words, titles and phrases to fit search engine algorithms. There are certain things you can do to make your site more seen though. Meta tags allow you to enter keywords into your code. If you were planning to sale camping gear you might add tags like “camping” “tents” “sleeping bags.” You can even use name brands like “Columbia” to your code. These tags also allow you to add a description to your website that will appear when searched. Meta tags play a big role in Search Engine Optimization. Over 80% of people use search engines to find information on the Internet. Meta tags need to be unique and applicable to your site.

Geotagging is another method used when creating a SEO. These tags are used to add geographic information into your online metadata. It allows people to see locations near them or the location of the content. I was on yesterday and it had a sidebar that said to by locally. It knows where I was and that I lived near Nibly where they are located. These tags are useful for many businesses weather it is news or local stores.

SEO’s are important tools to use when creating a web presence.

Legal Issues of Pinterest

Class pictures, ticket stubs, and quotes cover-scattered bulletin boards in bedrooms and lockers all over the U.S. If you could share anything on that board with people all over the Internet, what would it be? Pinterest, a web-based image-sharing network, allows people to do just that. This virtual bulletin board allows its users to “pin” images and share ideas with other users. One of the founders, Ben Silbermann, feels that the site has filled an idea-sharing void. Silbermann said, “Once you know what you want, Google or Amazon will take care of it. But if you don’t know what you want and you want to discover, I don’t think there are very good solutions.” Pinterest appeals largely to do-it-yourselves, brides-to-be, stay-at-home-moms, and cooks.
            This site that has recently blown up might have legal issues though. Attorney and photographer Kirsten Kowalski deleted her inspirational board after realizing legal issues with the site. The problem is that people who pin are agreeing that they are the owners of the photos or ideas. Molly DiBianca, an attorney with Young Conaway Stargatt and Taylor, says that's how it is. "At the moment, there is very little that can be done to avoid infringing copyright if you are a Pinterest user," she says. "The only way to pin pictures without violating the site's terms of service and the picture owner's copyright is to only pin pictures that you've taken yourself." This is also included in “re-pinning” images.
            A few things have kept Pinterest from becoming another Napster case though. When pinning for image, they ask you to “describe” your pin. This in essence lets you express a view on the original work. Pinterest should change “describe” to “comment” though. “Pinterest should instead change the prompt to “Comment on your pin…”.  That way users would be encouraged to provide a “transformative” (as it’s referred to in the case law).” This will help them win a fair use case even more. Pinterest is still struggling with legal things, but a few changes could help them out.
            It’s important to realized copyright and user laws even when dealing with an online site. Many photographers and authors sought to use Pinterest to promote their work, but "According to the Pinterest terms of service, you release all rights you have in a picture once you pin it.”

HoootSuite vs TweetDeck

First of all I'd like to explain a little bit about social media aggregators. They pull all your social media platforms into one location. It basically creates one social media platform out of all your networks. It helps organize and consolidate your media. Aggregators work great for businesses or simply people managing a lot of different platforms.They also can monitor posts and tweets, post photos, and shorten URLs.

This week I actually started using the aggregator Hootsuite. This is my first experience using a social media aggregator. It took awhile to set up, but once I figured it out I loved it. I decided to do a one month free trail for Hootsuite to help me with my elections campaign. I've been really busy this month and needed a little aggregator help. I chose Hootsuite because I needed to scheduled posts and knew that it worked well. After reading into some other aggregators I decided to compare Hootsuite to Tweetdeck.

They share a lot of similarities like:
  • Post to one or more social networks – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Foursquare
  • Tweet, Re-Tweet, Reply, Direct Message
  • Follow, Un-follow, Add to List/Group
  • Shorten URLs
  • Schedule updates
  • Monitor Twitter lists / Facebook Groups
  • View searches on Twitter/Facebook
  • Access aggregator via mobile clients
  • Synchronize across computers / devices
  • Post photos
  • Filter columns
Hootsuite doesn't require any additional software because it can be easily accessed from a web browser. It also offers a bookmark option called "Hootlet." This makes it easy to access and share information on the web. What I've loved about Hootsuite, is that it is data driven. I offers data about tweets, re-tweets, and statistics.

Tweetdeck on the other hand is said to have a more user friendly interface. One of Tweetdeck's most unique features is that it offers desktop notifications. It is better known for it's slick interface and bright new design. Overall I think you know which one I'd chose, but it's up to the user. There are also other great aggregators like Sproutsocial and Google Buzz. Everyone offers something different depending on what you need.

What's the Right Platform?

Starting a business and wonder what is the best social media platform for you? Every platform has its ups and downs, but it’s important to find the one that fits you best. The most popular platforms include: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, MySpace, and Google+. I’m sure you’ve all heard of these platforms, because they are the most used social media platforms! As a business owner it’s smart to use a platform that is already well used. It’s also important to remember that platforms are always changing. With Facebook falling, it might be smart to use the ever-rising Google+.

If you own a band though and want to get your music it out, I’d think about using MySpace. Yes MySpace is making a major come back in the online music world. Every platform has it’s own niches and attract different audiences.

If your goal were the reach a large audience, I’d think about using more than one social media platform. There are lots of factories that make the same product for different companies. The only difference in that product is how that particular company markets it. I like to think of this when it comes to content. It’s all about how you market your content. Find out who your target audience is and tailor your content and platforms towards them. 

I feel as if most businesses use Facebook and Twitter but I found an interesting article about Instagram. When I first thought of Instagram, I just see it as another camera with filters. But businesses like Free People, Comodo, Tiffany & CO, and even Red Bull are using it to advertise. 

Different social media platforms can help your business grow and even develop other customers. This is an up and coming source of marketing. Remember that older clients or managers don't truly understand the purpose of social media. Everyone is on a different field when it comes to understanding the world of social media. Tailor your platforms with all this information in mind.

Blog about Blogs

If you’re looking for a product, you would probably go to the internet first right? I know I would! And when you’re going to spend your hard earned money, you want to get advice from someone you trust right? Well, I think the world of blogging is doing just that. Bloggers give us that feel of trust and friendship so we’d rather listen to them over popup ads on the Internet.

There are a few basic steps when you want to create a blog. First choose your blog server, and or domain name. You need to dedicate time to your readers or potential readers. First start by developing a relationship with your readers and develop that everything you write.

I found 8 great tips to make your blog effect, weather you’re selling something or just chatting about your crazy life.

Tip 1: Position Yourself as an Expert

"The type of discussions you ideally should have ought to be answering questions that people out there on the Internet are searching for," says Adria Richards , Organic Technology Consultant and blogger. "For me, social blogging is a way to have conversations with potential customers and to draw traffic to your site." If you’ve positioned yourself as a trustworthy expert on a subject people are more willing to listen to you.

Tip 2: Share Experiences and Information

Readers want to read interesting things. If your life is outstanding, tell your readers about it! Your readers want to hear stories, and often times want to hear stories they can relate to. If you are interesting enough maybe your audience will share your blog or retweet posts.

Tip 3: Keep it Fresh and Mix it Up

If you always post quotes maybe mix it up and catch your audience’s attention with some pictures and videos. Continuously try to recruit people to read your blog! Spark conversations with your audience and interact.

Tip 4: Encourage Feedback

When you gain insight about your website or product ask questions to get more information. Make it easy for people to post comments. Encourage your readers to share whatever is on their minds. Just make sure your audience isn’t getting neglected; always reply to comments.

Tip 5: Use Schedulers and Updaters

Use aggregators to post things at certain times. There are certain times that are better to post information. "It's been proven that there are certain times when people are reading blog posts and checking social media," says Richards. The most popular times to post or make an announcement are 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, and 6 pm throughout the business day. "The best days are the middle of the week, because on Mondays people are trying to get into the swing of things and on Fridays people are thinking about the upcoming weekend."

Tip 6: Make Your Blog the Central Hub

Make your blog the central place for announcements and information. You are in the most control of your own blog. You can create information on your blog and than use other social media platforms to promote yourself.

Tip 7: Link back to Your Website

If you are running a company make sure everything links to your company’s website. Use tags and key words to link everything together through all social media platforms.

Tip 8: Use a Personal Touch

Everyone wants to feel like you’re his or her best friend. Readers want to read what their “friends” are writing about. It’s important to add some personal flair to your sight!

Qualitative and Quantitative Research

Both qualitative and quantitative research offers valuable information to a business. Quantitative offers more of the data and numbers side of the research while qualitative focuses more about the market, demographics, and business plan. Both play an important role to find out your business’s potential and current position.

In more recent years, companies have turned to a secondary source for research: social media. Research tools have been greatly impacted by social media. Some qualitative research tools have even taken to using interfaces like Facebook or Twitter have.  As social media grows, so does its analytics. Research is now being done through social media's analytics. You have to be careful with people’s information though. It reminds me a lot of Facebook’s new graph search where you can search your friend’s information. You can search what your friends, co-workers or people on Facebook like to do, or where they like to eat and hang out. It’s in its beta phase right now and is excited to release their new search. I’m curious to see if this catches on in the Facebook world, because this could become an amazing business tool. I have the feeling though that graph search will start up and die very quickly. They are smart to use internal search tools, but people don’t really update their profiles. Social media is more about the here and now.

It’s important to take everything with a grain of salt and do other research aside from someone’s social media. Most people will be opinionated on social media, weighing results. I know the things I have “liked” on Facebook don’t make a great representation of whom I really am. Just for kicks and giggles I went to my Facebook and looked at my profile. It said I “liked” watching paint dry and dancing in the rain. These were things I posted on my Facebook when I was 14 because I thought I was being funny. Social media can be a great outlet for qualitative and quantitative research though if it’s used as a secondary tool. I think social media can be great tool to businesses if used with care and caution.

Situation Analysis on Bieber Fevor

Our little Justin Bieber isn’t such a little boy anymore. On Jan. 2nd pictures leaked out of him and his buddy Lil’ Twist smoking weed in Newport, California. He feels betrayed by another friend who sold the pictures for $25,000.  Justin’s marijuana photo was blamed solely on his security, or lack of security. Insiders tell TMZ that at all prior occasions that Bieber was partying, his team puts up a sign that says any of the photos taken are strictly property of Bieber. Bieber like any other celebrity is a product that his mangers need to sell. This little stunt falls onto his PR. Social media and news blew up after this scandal. states, ““Squeaky clean” is the image that young pop stars like Justin Bieber usually put forward, but Bieber recently took to Twitter to apologize to fans over recent photos." Before Bieber’s apologize could get out though, his fans were already going crazy. His fan base focuses mainly on teenage girls. And these girls literally went crazy.

Tween and teen girls started the Twitter hashtag #cutforbieber. Allegedly fans went online and said they’d cut themselves if Bieber didn’t stop smoking pot. It actually started as a scam by 4chan, but Bieber fans did start cutting themselves. The hashtag even started trending making people very upset. It soon became a joke for many Twitter users though. Tweets like “I’m gonna ‘cut’ myself a piece of cake for Justin” started appearing. A young 14-year-old girl Sam Brooks has even died due to this trend. Research showed that Sam cut her vain on her left wrist. Self-harm isn’t something to be taken seriously. Justin Bieber’s fan will do anything for him and I think he needs to realize there are lives being taken over some stupid hashtag. Justin Bieber is a name, face, celebrity, and product that young fans follow.
