What's the Right Platform?

Starting a business and wonder what is the best social media platform for you? Every platform has its ups and downs, but it’s important to find the one that fits you best. The most popular platforms include: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, MySpace, and Google+. I’m sure you’ve all heard of these platforms, because they are the most used social media platforms! As a business owner it’s smart to use a platform that is already well used. It’s also important to remember that platforms are always changing. With Facebook falling, it might be smart to use the ever-rising Google+.

If you own a band though and want to get your music it out, I’d think about using MySpace. Yes MySpace is making a major come back in the online music world. Every platform has it’s own niches and attract different audiences.

If your goal were the reach a large audience, I’d think about using more than one social media platform. There are lots of factories that make the same product for different companies. The only difference in that product is how that particular company markets it. I like to think of this when it comes to content. It’s all about how you market your content. Find out who your target audience is and tailor your content and platforms towards them. 

I feel as if most businesses use Facebook and Twitter but I found an interesting article about Instagram. When I first thought of Instagram, I just see it as another camera with filters. But businesses like Free People, Comodo, Tiffany & CO, and even Red Bull are using it to advertise. 

Different social media platforms can help your business grow and even develop other customers. This is an up and coming source of marketing. Remember that older clients or managers don't truly understand the purpose of social media. Everyone is on a different field when it comes to understanding the world of social media. Tailor your platforms with all this information in mind.
